Castillo San Salvador de la Punta

Designed by Italian architect Beautista Antonelli, Castillo San Salvador de la Punta was constructed in 1589 and is one of the four ports that was built to protect Havana Harbour. Around 1630, a heavy chain between La Punta and El Morro fortress was placed to increase protection of the harbour. Up to today, you can still see the chain with engravings of its time. La Punta is also a museum that is home to a collection of artefacts from Spanish treasure ships, along with models of Spanish ships from colonial times.
