Victoria & Albert Museum (“V & A”)

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The museum started its origins from Great Exhibition of 1851 and by the following year, Museum of Manufactures was opened at Marlborough House which was eventually transferred to Somerset House. It was then decided that a new and larger site was needed. The 13-acre current site with Victorian style architecture on Cromwell Road was officially opened by Queen Victoria on in 1857. Today, it is home to 145 galleries, where you can almost find any form of artwork from, among others, paintings to textiles.

V & A is the largest museum of decorative arts and design in the world, home to over 4.5 million objects that spans 5,000 years of art of ancient times to the present day, from Europe, North America, North Africa and Asia.
