Lake District
Lake District in Cumbria is another beautiful area in England, situated in the northwest and is known for its glacial ribbon lakes and rugged fell mountains. It is home to pretty towns, such as: Bowness-on-Winderemere, Ambleside and Keswick; and villages, among others: Hawkeshead, Grasmere and Near Sawery. Apart from breath taking scenery, you will find interesting sites in surrounding villages, including: Hill Top- the former house of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawery; Wray Castle in Hawkeshead; and Dove Cottage- the former home of famous English poet William Wordsworth.
Lake District has recently been classified as a World Heritage Site in early July 2017.
Airport and Train Station: Manchester Airport (largest and most convenient), then you can take West Coast Main line to Oxenholme, Penrith and Carlisle. I recommend you hire a car so you have the flexibility in driving through the many towns and villages in the area.
