St. Joseph’s Cathedral
St Joseph’s Cathedral was built in 1886 with Neo-Gothic architectural style and is administered by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Hanoi, serving the 4 million Catholics in the country. Construction of the cathedral took place shortly following the French’s decade-long control of the city. The cathedral was built on the site of a sacred Buddhist Temple, Bao Thien Pagoda, that was demolished by the French.
