Liverpool

Liverpool is a maritime city located 220 miles northwest of London, in Lancashire county. It is situated where River Mersey meets Irish Sea. With an urban area of 77 sqm and population in surrounding areas of two million people, it is the fifth largest metropolitan area in the UK. The city was founded in 1207 and following the industrial revolution, it developed and expanded its economy through, among others, general cargo, freight, cotton and coal from the 18th to 20th century. The city was also home to Cunard and White Star Line, as well as the port of registry of the ocean liners such as RMS Titanic and Queen Mary.

Liverpool is also famous for being the hometown of the Beatles. It is a cultural, social and student city, home to University of Liverpool. For football lovers, there is Liverpool Football Club in Anfield Stadium, as well as Everton Football club in Goodison Park.
