Leeds
Leeds is a historic city in West Yorkshire, about 45 miles northeast of Manchester and 195 miles north of London. Its history can be traced back to 5th century when it was referred to as a wooded area of the Kingdom of Elmet. It developed into a market town in Middle Ages and prior to industrial revolution, it turned into a centre for manufacture and spinning of woollen cloth. It then became a major mill town and by the 18th century the city accounted for one sixth of England’s export trade. Today, with an area of 213 sqm and urban population of 1.8 million people, it has become the most diverse economy in the UK after London. The city is also home to University of Leeds.
