Castle Combe
My all-time favourite would be the village Castle Combe. Located 5 miles northwest of the town Chippenham in Wiltshire and 102 miles west of London, this village is remarkably beautiful. It takes its name from a 12th century castle that stands 600 to the north. Notable houses include the 17th century Dower House and very beautiful 5-star Manor House Hotel. Several movies have also used Castle Combe as their shooting location, among others: Doctor Dolittle, War Horse, Stardust, The Wolfman and more recently, the TV series Downton Abbey. Today, there is also a motor racing venue nearby, Castle Combe Circuit.
