Vasa Museum and Nordic Museum, Djurgarden Island

The Vasa Museum is a maritime museum established in 1990 and located on Djurgarden Island. It is unique because it displays an almost fully intact 17th century 64-gun warship that has ever been salvaged. It sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. Vasa Museum is the most visited museum in Scandinavia.

Another interesting museum depicting the country’s rich naval history is Nordic Museum, also located on Djurgarden Island. Established in 1873 and originally called the Scandinavian Ethnographic Collection, this museum is dedicated to Sweden’s cultural history and ethnography early modern period around 1520 to the contemporary period.
