The Royal Palace (Stockholm Palace)
Constructed in 1697, this baroque style palace took over 60 years to build and complete. It is the official residence and major royal palace of King Carl XVI and Queen Silvia, the Swedish monarch. Located in Gamla Stan, this palace holds offices of the Swedish Royal Family and the Royal Court of Sweden. The first development built on this site in 13th century was a fortress with a core tower, which eventually grew to a castle. Today, it has more than 1,400 rooms of which 660 have windows spread over 6 floor levels.
