El Malecon

The Malecon is a 5-mile thoroughfare coastal road and seawall, stretching from the mouth of the harbour in Old Havana, along the north side of Central Havana, all the way to the Vedado area. It was built as a wall offering protection against the sea. Over the years, many of the old colonial buildings have been damaged by the area’s continuous storms and hurricanes. However, it remains a popular place for walks and socialising among local resident and offers beautiful views of the sea.
